The left? The PD? Here it is, showing its true face. The latest episode is signed by Marco Rocco De Luca, a Democratic city councilor of Cesena and leader of the Young Democrats, who lent himself to an intervention to say the least delirious, full of the worms and obsessions of an increasingly backward left. All this just a few days after the other disconcerting intervention by Virginia Libero, another new recruit of Elly Schlein’s party.

Born in 2000, in the City Council since 2024, De Luca also holds the position of national head of Political Culture, Foundations, Memory and Anti-fascism of the Young Democrats. And from the Festa dell’Unità di Reggio Emilia he entrusted his ranting political manifesto to a video on Instagram.
“Yes, we are the children, we are the grandchildren of the history of Italian communism and concretely we must free ourselves from the imperialist yoke of Trump and the United States, from the obsessive Zionist rhetoric, from the temptation to give in to the sirens of capitalism, capital, liberalism and finally set sail courageously towards new horizons.”
A message accompanied by an even more explicit comment: “To be a true alternative, we must destroy this capitalism and create a new economic system. We must free ourselves from the American yoke, from Zionism and the oppression of the powerful. With courage, without hesitation.”
Words that subtly echo the positions of the new Dem generation, already under the spotlight, as mentioned, for Virginia Libero’s intervention. The secretary of the Young Democrats had stated: “We will not be the soldiers of your wars” and “we will organize the deserters“.
After the controversy, Libero clarified: “We know which side to be on, on the side of Ukraine, I condemn Putin,” explaining that she contests the increase in military spending and Trump’s line. Reactions within the PD are, as always, mixed: Arturo Scotto appreciated the call for peace as “a policy,” while Matteo Orfini and Laura Boldrini defended the message. Giorgio Gori instead evoked article 52 of the Constitution, while Filippo Sensi opposed the concept of resistance to desertion.
