For the shopkeeper, the Court of Cassation confirmed the final sentence of 14 years and 9 months in prison. In addition, he will have to pay 780,000 euros in compensation to the victims’ families.
Meloni’s speech is more general: “With the latest Security Bill we introduce a rule of pure common sense: those who suffer damage while committing a crime cannot claim any compensation, nor can their relatives. Those who break the law cannot expect to be compensated by those who defended themselves.”
