“Today is the day of Meloni’s debacle…“: the Five Star Movement member Daniela Morfino said this in a video commenting on the rejection of the amendment on preferences during the examination of the new electoral law in the Chamber. However, her words soon turned out to be a boomerang. Not only because in the end there was no defeat for the government and the reform was approved in the chamber, but also because of her obvious pronunciation mistake.
What drove the web crazy, which has already erupted with ironic comments, was the way the Five Star member attempted the French pronunciation of that term. A pronunciation that turned out to be wrong. Instead of saying “débàcle“, Morfino pronounced the word putting the accent at the end, “debaclè“. Among others, the humorist Osho commented on the slip. Accompanying a video, he ironically wrote: “But wouldn’t it be better to avoid foreign words…”.
