Giuseppe Conte tried again this time to throw the parliamentary discussion into chaos. The leader of the Five Star Movement, instead of addressing the substance of the issue – namely Delmastro’s chats – found yet another trivial reason to attack the government and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. “Here we must first ascertain an unexpected fact – he says in the Chamber – There is no minister or undersecretary representing the government. What is happening?”
And again: “The government doesn’t put its face on it? Yet we are talking about a very important matter. Giorgia Meloni, the president, doesn’t put her face on it but we are talking about her party, her idea of justice.” Giuseppi is proud as he utters these words. He is convinced he has embarrassed the executive. Too bad he actually embarrassed himself. The vice president of the Chamber, the PD member Anna Ascani, points this out to him: “I’m sorry, President, this is an internal matter, it is not expected that government representatives be present.” The majority bursts out laughing in the Chamber.
