On the right, however, there are also those who rejoice. And naturally, these are the Vannacci supporters. As il Fatto Quotidiano writes, the most fired up of all is Edoardo Ziello, 34 years old, already in his second term, now a point of reference for the general in the Chamber. “The Vannacci effect is increasingly present,” he declares shortly before the vote outcome. “If we are talking about preferences, it is because the general has repeatedly made an appeal in this regard.”

And again: “In this increasingly gloomy chamber, we obtained this amendment only thanks to the fear coming from outside this Palace, a fear that is increasingly looming. Yes, yes, gentlemen deputies, it is the fear of General Vannacci, who will come, indeed he will come, and even if you try to stop me, you will not stop him.” Uncontainable.

At the time of the vote, the Vannacci deputies film themselves: they do not want to be seen as snipers. But their “yes” is not enough. The reform does not pass. And so here they are playing the part of those with dark faces, angry. Ziello strikes again: “This chamber has given an unworthy image with this vote!”. Then, he says something that, deep down, you know, makes him enjoy it: “This vote contextualizes a split within the majority. Because it is evident, I say to the friends of Brothers of Italy, that the deputies of Forza Italia and the League have betrayed your agreement.”

“In the secret vote – he continues – hiding in the darkness of this keypad, they broke your agreement and sank the preferences that Vannacci had invoked and on which he had made an appeal to the Prime Minister.” Finally, he goes on the attack: “If this is the demonstration of your ability to manage the parliamentary activities of the country, you make us understand that you are completely unfit with this coalition.”
