For the political scientist, therefore, the criticism of preferences “risks appearing hypocritical, especially if one considers that opposition leaders could have seriously challenged the majority by promoting – and possibly voting together with government parties, as they did regarding the vote of out-of-town voters – an amendment that imposed its reintroduction, but instead they withdrew it.”
