Now, however – she says – Report must turn the page: “Yes, we no longer want to be the news, but to make news.” The goal is to protect “the program, its history, and its team” and to prevent “normalization.” Di Pasquale rejects the idea that the relationship between Ranucci and Lavitola influenced the newsroom’s work: “Lavitola has never influenced our investigations.” And she clarifies: “I have never met him, I have never frequented his restaurant.” As for the new format, no revolutions: “We will further enhance the historic team,” focusing “on major systemic investigations” and with “more concise” studio interventions. Di Pasquale then adds: “I am not a prima donna. I rarely use social media. I have never nurtured the ambition to host the show and those who know me know I have no vanity. I believe and hope that my name has united and not divided.” Finally, the political issue. Is Rai “Tele Meloni”? The answer is clear: “We will never allow Report to become Tele Meloni.” And in the election year, she promises investigations “on both right and left, as always.” After all, she recalls, she has received bipartisan insults: D’Alema told her she asked “stupid questions,” La Russa asked if she was “stupid.” “Would they have ever done that to a man?” Finally, Ranucci and the Broad Front.
