Just a few photos et voilà, Silvia Salis unleashes chaos once again. Guest at the Festa dell’Unità in Modena, the mayor of Genoa caused quite a stir within the so-called “broad field.” There are two reasons. As reported by Primocanale, two shots in particular are at the center of the controversy. In one, Salis is seen in the company of Alessandro Terrile and Simone D’Angelo. “Not a random photo, especially in a Ligurian PD marked by tensions, expectations, and major maneuvers ahead of the regional congress.” The reason? “Terrile is a central figure in the party’s balance. D’Angelo is a regional councilor but currently holds no formal roles in the PD. So the choice to bring him to Modena, leaving at home the provincial secretary Francesco Tognoni and the regional secretary Davide Natale, seems at least unusual.” Could it really be a political signal? This is what they would have asked themselves even within the PD.

Yet it is especially the second photo that raises the dust. In the image, the mayor is photographed among volunteers while helping with the fritters. So far nothing strange if it were not that the shot could tell much more than one might think. “First the dinner with Stefano Bonaccini, then hugs, selfies, greetings, and applause. Salis at party events seems to move naturally. Not as a passing guest, but as a figure who knows how to speak to that world and that world, at least in part, looks at her with curiosity.” And here is the usual question: what national future for Silvia Salis? She has always denied it, but many already see her as a unifier of the broad field.
