Deputy Andrea De Maria presented a motion in the Chamber requesting to sign a declaration of affinity with constitutional values in order to use the Montecitorio press room. Essentially? Yet another attempt to introduce the antifascist license. Deputies, following the internal rules of Parliament, can propose in the institutional setting to organize conferences choosing the theme and consequently the guests in total freedom. But the PD, as well as the opposition, did not digest the planning by Domenico Furgiuele, an FN member and at the time a Lega deputy, on January 30 of a meeting with the Remigration and Reconquest Committee – an alliance formed by CasaPound, Network of Patriots, Vfs and Brescia to the Brescians for the launch of the campaign, of the identity group, of a bill proposal and consequent signature collection on the topic of remigration (signatures, 150,000, then to be filed at Parliament in June).

So besides the dozens of Italian cities where the antifascist license is already present – essentially anyone who wants to use a public room for a meeting must put in writing their agreement to antifascism – the Dems wanted the same thing in the Chamber. But the motion was rejected with 155 votes against, while 105 were in favor and 9 abstained. Giorgio Mulè, member of Forza Italia and vice president of the Chamber, stated that «asking to sign this declaration is equivalent to recognizing a form of weakness and defeat regarding what we are and represent» as parliamentarians.

And the farce of the license, as in Rivoli where it must also be presented to make a move, is mocked by the abstention from voting by Azione and Italia Viva. A choice that follows the suspension of 32 deputies last April from PD, M5S and Avs who had prevented the holding of the above-mentioned remigration conference. De Maria speaks of a «serious choice», but the critical issue would have been to submit to the Dems’ licenses in order to speak in the Chamber.
