A sexist comment directed at Sabrina Salerno for a bikini photo becomes an opportunity for a provocative and supportive response from Jo Squillo. The two artists, longtime friends of Italian music, chose to jointly challenge those judgments that seem to want to dictate how a woman should dress and present herself based on age.
It all started from a photograph published by Salerno, 58 years old, accompanied by a comment from a user: “I feel sorry for you, you still act like a teenager, live your life.” The singer replied by claiming the freedom to feel comfortable with her own body and rejecting the idea that wearing a swimsuit means wanting to appear younger. At that point, Jo Squillo, 64 years old, intervened with a video posted on social media. The singer, initially with her chest covered by her hands, chose to ironically overturn the tone of the criticism. “Cover up at your age,” she exclaims, before revealing her body, with two stars added on the chest to comply with Meta’s rules on nudity content.

The gesture is accompanied by a message of solidarity to her friend and a claim of the freedom to show oneself without being influenced by age-related judgments. In the post, Squillo also reiterates that “the best is yet to come.” Among the comments was also one from Sabrina Salerno, who thanked her friend with a joke: “Oops… well done Jo!!!”.
