Who loves him follows him but, if fake profiles and not authentic people are following him, then there is something wrong. Almost one in four profiles among those who interacted with the social content of Roberto Vannacci, in fact, would be attributable to non-authentic accounts. This emerges from a report by Cyabra, a company specialized in social intelligence and mapping coordinated online disinformation strategies, commissioned by Arcadia. The data, according to the Giornale, examines activity recorded between July 4 and August 3 on X and Instagram. The analysis involved 2,453 profiles that interacted with the accounts of the leader of Futuro Nazionale. Of these, 607, equal to 24.7%, were classified as non-authentic. According to the report, these would be fake profiles intervening to artificially amplify the spread of content. In total, 176 posts were analyzed that generated 4.7 million interactions.

The situation changes significantly from one platform to another. On X, 397 fake accounts were identified, 34.6% of those examined. On Instagram, instead, fake accounts were 210 out of 1,304, equal to 16.1%. The comparison with normal online political conversations is one of the elements highlighted by the study: on average, fake profiles account for about 10%, while in the case of Vannacci and Futuro Nazionale the rate would be up to three times the average. Among the topics that attracted the most non-authentic accounts are polls on Futuro Nazionale, the milestone of 130,000 party memberships, the case of Mario Roggero, the rivalry with Forza Italia, and the issues of immigration and Ceuta.

The survey also highlights that 36% of fake accounts on X were created in the last two years, compared to 8% of authentic accounts. Of these, 57 were created in 2026. Non-authentic accounts have an average of 53 followers, compared to 645 for authentic ones. Forty-two have posted at least three replies in the last 30 days, while the most active shared the same link 16 times under Vannacci’s posts. The report concludes that on Instagram, non-authentic accounts expressing a position predominantly show support for Vannacci, while on X a position against the leader of Futuro Nazionale is more widespread. However, in the next election round, the consensus will have to have an authentic X on the ballot paper and there will be no bots to help there.
