The 5Stars of “honesty” and “transparency” are outraged because a newspaper, Il Tempo, published the salaries of the journalists of an investigative program aired on Rai, therefore paid by the citizens. Colleague Dario Martini reported the gross compensation of Report, including the production expenses of the reports – any errors should be contested, but that is not the reason for yet another outcry – and the Movement declares that “the real goal is to discredit the program and its host,” who in fact do not need any help. In the note generically attributed to the “M5S members in the Rai Supervisory Commission” we then read that Ranucci’s program was “too uncomfortable for the power of Giorgia’s world,” to whom almost an entire episode was dedicated – you know, the novelty, you might say – for a selfie requested seven years earlier by a certain person who then turned out, certainly by chance, not to be a saint. Another tragicomic episode of this kind and Fdi would have been voted for even by the survivors of Communist Refoundation.

Attention, the former president of the Rai Supervisory Commission, the contiana Barbara Floridia, intervenes: “The defamatory intent carried out by Angelucci’s newspapers is clear, aiming to discredit one of the most important programs of the public service and to push for the removal of its host,” but we repeat that the chief investigative tracker and his loyal followers did everything on their own. Nothing, Floridia does not give up: “From today the margins for reconciliation of the commission are practically non-existent.” Italians, in fact – ourselves included – immediately panicked. Perhaps, but we could be wrong, in the opposite case the 5Stars would have also asked for transparency about the phone calls between deputy Dario Carotenuto and Ranucci: completely legitimate, of course, but for the pentastellati standards it never made a difference.
It is the turn of Angelo Bonelli: “We are facing an unworthy management of the public service and a political operation planned at the table by the right to delegitimize and close one of the few investigative journalism programs left in Italy.” The spokesperson of the Greens continues: “The company should immediately open an audit to ascertain who knew those data, who took them and handed them over outside. Or are audits in Rai only used to intimidate and hit journalists disliked by the government? It is also false,” concludes the co-discoverer of Soumahoro, “to present as salaries the sums that include the expenses incurred by the correspondents for months of work, trips, filming and editing,” but on Tempo this aspect was clearer than Ilaria Salis’s resume.
