The leader of the Brothers of Italy group in the Chamber and the deputy of Alliance Greens and Left are both guests of Tommaso Labate on Realpolitik, the weekend political talk show on Rete 4. Bonelli starts off strongly, obviously against Giorgia Meloni: “The point, at least for us, is that this majority has paralyzed the country and Parliament on the electoral law while it fails to address the major economic issues, skyrocketing fuel prices, some of the highest energy costs in Europe, and well, Meloni has already renounced her past, she has put in locked-in top candidates. Just to make it clear, I won’t go into technicalities, but it’s not just that, let’s not forget, there will be 105 parliamentarians elected decided by party secretariats, forget democracy. This is truly something unheard of that tramples democracy and they are doing it at the last moment and unfortunately it’s not only a problem of this center-right majority: in this country we have a problem, since 1990 we have changed electoral systems 5 times, it’s unacceptable and it can’t be done at the last moment because someone thinks they will lose the elections.”
Bignami replies: “I find it very amusing that left-wing figures who argue about the coalition, who argue about the program, who argue about the leader, who even argue about the rules to decide the leader say that the center-right is divided, wonderful. I advise them to take some lessons on the unity of what is the longest government in the history of the Republic and which I believe will last until the end of the legislature, the ‘believe’ is ironic. Considering that the left has more or less changed governments as fast as they change socks since they have been in power, I hope and believe that they really can’t even be credible.”
“In short – continues the Meloni supporter – the left talking about a divided right is already laughable. Regarding preferences, I would like to ask those who today defend the electoral law, how many parliamentarians are chosen by Italians today? Zero. Today, if the electoral law is completed and approved, the Italian people will be able to choose the coalition, choose based on a program with a designated leader, also choose their own parliamentarians and will know the same evening of the vote who won.”
