Lautaro in Barcelona's sights? What's happening | Libero Quotidiano.it

Barcelona is looking again at Inter. According to Spanish media, with Julian Alvarez still blocked by Atletico Madrid, the blaugrana club is considering Lautaro Martinez as an alternative to complete the attack. A complicated path, but one that in recent hours has gained space in the Spanish media. The priority remains Alvarez, meanwhile the Argentine has returned to Madrid after the holidays following the World Cup and, after completing the medical examinations, is waiting for Diego Simeone’s return to discuss the future with the coach. His will would be clear: to move to Barcelona. The problem is Atletico’s position, which considers the striker untouchable and can count on a contract valid until 2030.

Barça, however, does not want to risk being left without a striker. Robert Lewandowski has left Catalonia to move to Chicago Fire, while Ferran Torres is close to Paris Saint-Germain for a figure around 50 million euros. Hansi Flick therefore needs a central striker and, in case the deal for Alvarez should definitively fall through, Lautaro would represent a very high-level solution. Inter’s captain is also liked by Flick himself, but the path appears anything but simple. The Nerazzurri club has no intention of giving up its leader, while Lautaro has never expressed the desire to change teams. On the contrary, the Argentine has repeatedly reaffirmed his bond with Milan and the intention to continue his career in Nerazzurri.

What makes the deal even more complicated is the player’s valuation. At 28 years old and with three years of contract still, Lautaro is considered by Inter a heritage worth more than 100 million euros. For now, therefore, Barcelona continues to focus mainly on Alvarez. The conversation between the Argentine and Simeone will be decisive to understand if there is a glimmer of hope. If Atletico’s wall remains intact, however, Lautaro’s name could become much more than a simple alternative.
