In the end, Italo Bocchino returns to the field and back to politics. The former parliamentarian of Alleanza Nazionale, Pdl, and Futuro e Libertà has been out of the arena for some time. The editorial director of the Secolo d’Italia, former right-hand man of Gianfranco Fini before and after the break with Silvio Berlusconi, is however an authoritative voice of the Italian right. As such, he is often a guest on La7 talk shows, from Otto e mezzo to In Onda and Piazzapulita, in gladiator style at the Colosseum because surrounded by center-left commentators in a “alone against all” model.

Now, however, according to Corriere della Sera, Italo is ready to put on the jersey and playing shoes again. “After Marche, Lazio,” recalls the newspaper from via Solferino, announcing that Bocchino “will become from September ‘the counselor’, made in Via della Scrofa, of Governor Francesco Rocca, seeking a second term.” In short, the former deputy “political son of Pinuccio Tatarella” will enter the game for the important regional elections in Lazio alongside the outgoing governor elected with the center-right.
The politician turned journalist (or vice versa), the Corsera jokes recalling Harvey Keitel in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, “has been sent in the version ‘I am Mr. Wolf, I solve problems’.” For Bocchino, however, this is not new: he had already followed the victorious electoral campaign of the Marche governor Francesco Acquaroli, a member of Fratelli d’Italia, helping him win against the former Pd mayor of Pesaro and MEP Matteo Ricci. Not exactly a walk in the park.
Bocchino, defined by Corriere as a “Meloni TV face,” according to the newspaper “will take care of the «narrative» of Rocca, of what he has done so far and what he will want to do in the next term.” The scoop came, as usual, at the table: Rocca himself revealed it during dinner with the council and majority in the Regional Council before the holidays.
