A sharp exchange between Matteo Renzi and the host Marianna Aprile took place during the latest episode of In Onda, on La7. The topic of discord? The leader of Italia Viva’s dealings with Saudi Arabia. “Not all jobs are the same, a former Prime Minister doing business with a country that had just torn apart a journalist,” Aprile attacks. Renzi interrupts her: “What deals have I made? I want to talk about the problems of Italians.”
The host, showing herself quite annoyed, insists on the issue: “I don’t want to be unpleasant, I want to finish the sentence without anyone interrupting me. I was speaking, I wasn’t asking you a question. It becomes annoying.” Then Renzi: “If you ask me a question, I answer.” “Questions have question marks at the end,” Aprile points out. “Do the sociological analysis,” Renzi provokes. “Lexical, if anything,” the journalist corrects him. “Also sociological,” repeats the former Prime Minister.

Aprile slams her hand on the table and gives up: “You decide, because otherwise I become unpleasant.” At that point Emiliano Fittipaldi tries to intervene, but Renzi, returning to the initial topic, anticipates him: “There is a law in this country that says I can no longer do these things.
