The jeweler – it was not the first robbery he had suffered – faced three criminals alone and with such shock and disturbance that we certainly cannot say he was clear-headed at that moment.
Gratteri is right when he brings up football, because this case has shaken the country so much that in the end the message passed that if you are right-wing you side with Roggero. If you are left-wing, no. «The fact that 51% of Italians – said Gratteri – said they were convinced that the jeweler’s behavior fell within legitimate defense negatively impressed me». Now, no offense to Gratteri who has dedicated a life to anti-mafia, but the fact that the majority of Italians side with Roggero clearly expresses the sentiment of the citizens.
