According to the comedian, the regional president allegedly blocked the development of renewable energy on the island. In short, a five-star short circuit. The attack was signed by Marco Bella, a former Grillino deputy and university professor, who pointed the finger at Todde for allegedly hindering precisely those renewable energies that the left claims to want to defend.

The reply from the person concerned was not long in coming. “Think how much trouble we are causing – Todde’s words -. If they attack us, it’s because we have embarked on a complicated planning path that other regions have not taken. We have seen territories in Puglia or Tuscany transformed into industrial contexts without benefits on the price of energy. We have chosen not to incentivize producers, but to be sure that the energy produced benefits citizens and businesses”.

And again: “We do our duty and we don’t take lessons. The minister tells us that coal-fired power plants are expensive, but he doesn’t remember that if they are shut down today, the grid won’t hold up, even if the island were full of renewables, because there are obvious infrastructural limits.” The regional strategy aims to achieve 6.2 GW of power by 2030, but with strict control: “We want a real transition that affects transport and businesses, we do not accept top-down planning. The territory we have made available is amply sufficient, but we want to plan together with the communities”.
