Just in the past few hours, as reported by the Ministry of the Interior, 17 Egyptian citizens have been repatriated. And the Prime Minister emphasized this with a post published on Facebook and Instagram: a video that collects footage from the State Police showing irregular immigrants boarded on a plane by law enforcement.

The latest joint repatriation operation, coordinated with the European agency Frontex with a flight organized by Italy, saw the departure from Fiumicino of a charter flight bound for Cairo with 17 Egyptian citizens on board with serious criminal records for drug dealing and property crimes. As highlighted by the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi in a post on social media, 15 of them came from the CPRs of Bari, Caltanissetta, Gradisca d’Isonzo, and Milan. The other two, instead, were serving precautionary measures and judicial expulsions. This result was also made possible by the solid agreement between Italy and Egypt. An agreement that provides for the readmission and identification of migrants directly on Egyptian territory. Since the beginning of the year, almost 360 have been repatriated.
