According to Il Messaggero, a real internal war is unfolding in the newsroom of Report around the future of Sigfrido Ranucci. The central point of the matter would be the birth of a “Teulada soviet,” that is, an editorial committee promoted by the journalists and collaborators of the program to decide which investigations to carry out, how, and when to broadcast them.

The initiative would be mainly supported by Giorgio Mottola and Giulio Valesini, considered for years among Ranucci’s main collaborators. The document for the establishment of the committee would have been unanimously approved by the newsroom and would represent, according to the newspaper’s reconstruction, a form of autonomous organization in view of the restart of Report scheduled for November.
Ranucci, again according to Il Messaggero, would have experienced this choice as an attempt to bypass him, weaken him, and marginalize him, as if the “post-Ranucci” phase had already begun. Mottola and Valesini, in fact, are already considered possible successors to lead the program.
Hence the ironic reference to the Soviet model: a compact and organized newsroom, but crossed by possible dualisms and struggles for succession. We are probably facing a real “Soviet-like novel,” in which the editorial committee becomes the symbol of the transformation of power relations within Report. In the background remain the checks by the Rai ethical committee and the decisions that the company will have to make about the future of the program and Ranucci.
