With reference to the article of June 29, 2026 titled “Who is De Donno?: The interceptions on Covid” it is specified that Mr. Pierpaolo Abet is not under investigation in the related proceeding as his position was dismissed even before the conclusion of the investigations, it being immediately clear to the Magistrates that he was completely unrelated to the contested facts. Mr. Pierpaolo Abet has never had any kind of relationship with the company Adaltis or with the contracting stations nor with the other subjects indicated in the article except for Valerio De Luca to whom he is related. He has never received nor distributed proceeds deriving from the mandates subject to the consultancy to Adaltis or from other activities under investigation. The intercepted telephone conversations between Mr. Pierpaolo Abet and his first cousin Valerio De Luca referred to private opinions on current affairs and politics widely debated at that time – including the management of public funds and pandemic policies – about which Mr. Abet has always expressed his strong criticisms. These conversations had nothing to do with alleged agreements, business or speculation connected to the PNRR or Covid contracts. From the intercepted conversation it clearly emerges that Mr. Abet referred to Dr. De Donno with respect and bitterness, citing him as an example of the victims of pandemic policies. Mr. Abet has always expressed his disapproval of such policies and has always considered Dr. De Donno a martyr.”

Businessmen ready to feast on the sick and dead of the pandemic, interceptions on the Pnrr funds and much more is what emerges from the work of the Covid Commission in the investigation on the company Adaltis Srl, a molecular testing company. The investigators of the Rome Prosecutor’s Office – according to what is reported by Il Giornale – have reconstructed a picture related to contracts and consultancies during the pandemic, also with reference to the Pnrr.

The file talks about relationships between Adaltis and the Commissioner structure led by Domenico Arcuri, and consultancies for about 450 thousand euros to professionals close to a Roman law firm. In an interception – also cited by Il Giornale – it reads: “Both are fully aware of the criminal dynamics under investigation and of the ability of the association (of which the two are part) to steer (and acquire), through complex maneuvers, huge flows of public money.” The previous passage talks about a dialogue between Pierpaolo Abet of Universal trust and Luca De Luca, a lawyer close to Conte, with references to public funds and the Pnrr. Abet talks about the “68 billion” of the Pnrr and adds that “the bulk is all debt.”

De Luca laughs, while in the interceptions scientific figures and events related to the pandemic are also discussed. “Who is De Donno?”, asks De Luca and Abet replies: “The doctor who died! The one with the hyperimmune plasma! That poor guy, the one they made commit suicide.” The name of Giuseppe De Donno is thus evoked in the conversations reported by Il Giornale in relation to the investigations on Covid contracts. The investigators, according to the reconstruction, were unable to obtain a conviction for more serious crimes and saw the file close without definitive criminal outcomes. However, the framework of interceptions and reports remains that fuel questions about the emergency contracting system. Il Giornale also highlights how the investigation intertwined with the political debate and with the subsequent dismissals ordered by the judges.
