The question is: outside a loyal alliance with the Western political, financial and military bloc (which is not paradise on earth) would Italians be better or worse off, would Italy be more or less secure, would the economy grow more or less? Since the right answers are the latter (certainly we would be worse off in all fields) there is little point in splitting hairs with ifs and buts.

Italy of the record government is certainly a more concrete, serious and reliable country inside and outside its borders. Italians say so, the numbers support it. The rest is just propaganda and frustration.
