“Immediately evaluate, as a precautionary measure, the suspension of the effectiveness of the biomethane plant’s authorization, should Roma Biometano Srl not immediately adopt adequate measures for the reduction of odors and to guarantee suitable public and environmental safety standards. This is the main and most significant request contained in the resolution unanimously approved by the Council of Rome’s XV Municipality, proposed by the center-right, to protect the health of citizens, the environment, and the quality of life in the area.” Thus, in a joint note, the Forza Italia councilors
Stefano Peschiaroli and Giuseppe Mocci and the Fratelli d’Italia councilors Adriana Glori, Andrea Signorini, Giuseppe Calendino and Marco Ottaviani of Rome’s XV Municipality.

“One cannot proceed as if nothing were happening in the face of the critical issues reported by citizens and the concerns that have emerged in the area. Finally, common sense has prevailed: public health, environmental safety, and the quality of life of residents come first. For this reason – they continue – we consider it fundamental that the competent bodies evaluate with the utmost urgency the suspension of the authorization, should the company not intervene immediately with concrete and effective measures. The resolution also calls for controls on the construction site, the activation of monitoring by ASL and ARPA Lazio on odorous emissions and spilled materials, as well as immediate prescriptions for the company, including hermetic covering of the tank, suction systems, and filters. Finally, a comprehensive evaluation of the impact of the two plants is requested: the one in Cesano built by the Municipality of Rome for waste disposal and the private one in Olgiata for biogas production, on the health of residents and on all mobility in the north-west quadrant of Rome. Two plants unfortunately authorized by Roberto Gualtieri, one as mayor of Roma Capitale and the other as mayor of the metropolitan city of Roma Capitale.” “We thank all the councilors who supported the proposal, contributing to the achievement of a shared result in the interest of the territory and citizens. Forza Italia and Fratelli d’Italia have been able to put forward a common, serious, and responsible position on an issue particularly felt by the local community,” they conclude.
