That Repubblica is obsessed with fascism, the right-wing and the “black waves” is certainly no secret. The alarm is relentless, daily. And it does not seem to have any particular effect: few share it, except for the editorial staff and some readers. In short, the center-right has an easy game if these are the objections.
The most unleashed, always, is Massimo Giannini, a signature who writes lengthy articles capable of causing sleeplessness, at least for those who give credit to those texts in which catastrophic, extreme, violent, dark and hopeless scenarios are outlined.
Now for Repubblica the danger is “white fascism”
Of the failed left-wing electoral campaign in 2022, two articles remain noteworthy: one in which it is accused…Well, all this to introduce today’s front page of Repubblica , Sunday, September 6. A front page that oozes obsession and paranoia, that for fascism. A headline in huge letters: “A very black wave“.
So this “very black wave” is explained. First point: Vannacci in Cernobbio with his arsenal of Mussolinian slogans”. Second point: “Today in Saxony-Anhalt the far-right AfD could for the first time gain power in a Region. The EU holds its breath”. Third point: “Nationalist tribute in Belgrade for Mladic, the military butcher of Srebrenica. Among the fans also members of the government”.
Certainly, the case of Mladic is a considerable horror. The other two mentioned, instead, are simply politics, democracy. Certainly, politics with clear, radical, sometimes extreme positions. But is this enough to talk in huge letters about a “very black wave”? Indeed, for Repubblica the obsession is unmanageable.
