The Report case is not closed yet. After the meeting between the correspondents and Rai executives, a negotiation reportedly opened, in short new hypothetical and future scenarios for the post-Ranucci era. The picture is outlined by Danilo Procaccianti, an external correspondent of the 3 program, at the end of the discussion lasting about an hour and a half with the director of Rai In-Depth Reports, Paolo Corsini. “Everyone’s interest – the journalist prefaced – is to go on air on November 8 with the usual autonomy and independence. This is what we made clear to the company. It seems positive to me, now we will wait to understand Rai’s decisions.”

No discussion, however, on the names of the new hosts. “The hosts were not discussed – Procaccianti clarified at the end of the editorial meeting with the state TV executives after the removal of Sigfrido Ranucci from hosting –. We did not want to talk about names because for us Report must go on air on November 8, the team is available for this, we have had a positive dialogue with the company.”

Now the game remains open. “We gave ourselves some time, 12-24 hours then it will be discussed again,” added Procaccianti. From the editorial team, however, comes a clear line: “On our position, however, we are unmovable: the names of the two hosts are off the table.” And after this stance, Presutti’s move was not long in coming: she officially announced her withdrawal from hosting the program.

Meanwhile, Giulia Presutti and Daniele Piervincenzi, indicated as new hosts, met with Corsini but did not confront the team. “We have not yet managed to have a confrontation with the Report team, unfortunately,” said Piervincenzi. When asked if they had requested the confrontation, he replied: “Of course.”

And while “Now we await a move from the company,” the crossfire on the program continues. Unirai has requested checks on the curriculum of Giulia Innocenzi, contesting her lack of registration with the professional register. Ranucci defended her: “She is a lady reporter, better than many charlatans I have read about in these two months. For Report registration is not as important as quality, loyalty, independence. I point out that even Milena Gabanelli, Michele Buono, Giorgio Fornoni are not registered in the professional register.
