During Tg La7, the director Enrico Mentana announced the results of the SWG survey dedicated to the Sigfrido Ranucci case, an investigation whose contents had emerged in recent weeks without clarifying the source.

The survey, conducted by the SWG institute, presented Italians with a series of statements about the journalist and the case involving the host of “Report,” asking respondents to agree or disagree.
The responses show a clear difference between the orientations of center-left and center-right voters. The statements that Ranucci “is a victim of a political plot” and “made mistakes but in good faith” gather mainly the support of center-left voters: respectively 75% and 65%, against 24% and 32% among center-right voters.

Opposite are the evaluations on the removal from hosting “Report” and on the public image of the journalist. 67% of center-right voters believe it is “right that Ranucci was removed from hosting Report,” against 29% of the center-left. Furthermore, 73% of center-right voters say their opinion of the journalist worsened after the case, compared to 25% of center-left voters.
The survey also addressed the possibility of Ranucci entering politics. When asked if he could be a good political leader, negative judgments prevail: 39% answer “no,” while 26% do not know. Only 7% believe it would be “definitely yes.”
