They have always used minors (and civilians) as human shields and as a propaganda tool. Obviously, the goal is noble: to shine a spotlight on the suffering of the children of the Strip. The problem, if anything, is that the initiative, which started with appeals published on the pages of Avvenire by Professor Eugenio Mazzarella, former Democratic deputy, smells strongly of exploitation.

Also because at Nazareno, unlike in other left-wing parties like Avs and M5s, there have been no strong condemnations of the Gaza massacre. Certainly, among the Democrats, many are genuinely moved by the moral suffering of the Palestinians. But that is not enough. Especially in politics. And then, proposing the Nobel to an entire population indiscriminately risks turning into support for Hamas propaganda, which continues to dominate the Strip despite Israel’s military intervention. What could be better for the terrorists of October 7 than to be able to boast the prestigious prize both internationally and domestically? Yes, because the Nobel, in this case, would take on the sinister appearance of legitimizing Hamas’s actions. It is no coincidence, therefore, that yesterday the president of the Jewish Community of Milan, Walker Meghnagi, harshly criticized the operation.
