She is the silent guest at the Teha Forum in Cernobbio. She is not present, but everyone brings her up. We are obviously talking about Giorgia Meloni, fresh from celebrations for the historic record duration of her government. The first to mention her, upon his arrival at Villa D’Este, is the Frenchman Jordan Bardella, president of the Rassemblement National. Just before his speech, he stops to talk with reporters: «I believe this is quite a special weekend for Italy, because the government of Giorgia Meloni and Matteo Salvini is the longest-lasting in Italian political history.» An important result for Bardella who explains: «I welcome this stability because it is important, first of all for Italy, a country for which I have a deep personal affection, being also the country of my origins, and obviously for the Italian people. Giorgia Meloni – Bardella continues – is a figure of stability for Italy and for Europe and I hope she will continue to lead the Italian government for many years.» Then, returning to stability, he says: «With Meloni, Italy has found the stability that France lacks today».
A MATTER OF FRIENDSHIP
Bardella then, speaking at the Teha Forum Cernobbio, explained that «I do not support leaving the European Union, but I want to change everything without destroying anything.» And again: «We want a Europe of growth and one of borders. Once in power with RN, we will present ourselves to the European institutions to negotiate, as Giorgia Meloni has already done for Italy, to demand greater economic patriotism from France that can become a new energy paradise, exploiting our competitiveness. We aim to cooperate with other European governments – admits the Frenchman – especially with those who do not believe in open borders and we will work with all those countries that care deeply about making Europe a great power.
We also want to cooperate with the right wing of the European People’s Party.» Finally, he criticizes Vannacci – him too – and strengthens the friendship and alliance with Matteo Salvini and the League: «Vannacci? He is a member of the European Parliament, he was part of Salvini’s movement which is our ally, with whom we collaborate. I will have the opportunity at the end of the day to meet Matteo and have dinner with him (“by the lake” the League leader announced in the evening). This bond of friendship is extremely strong and important. My loyalty – Bardella concludes – goes to Matteo Salvini and my respect goes to Giorgia Meloni».
Our prime minister is also always in the thoughts of Albanian president Edi Rama, who, intercepted by reporters asking if he likes Vannacci, responds sharply: «I don’t understand, why should I like Vannacci if I like Giorgia? She is beautiful and very talented».
She, Giorgia Meloni, after the celebration in Bari yesterday, went unexpectedly to Policoro, in the province of Matera, for an inspection in the areas most affected by the violent tornado that hit the territory in recent days.
TODAY OPPOSITION AND GOVERNMENT
Returning to the Teha Forum in Cernobbio, today’s program is full of political guests. It opens with “The opposition’s point of view,” a panel in which all the leaders will participate: Angelo Bonelli (Avs), Giuseppe Conte (M5S), Matteo Renzi (Italia Viva), and Elly Schlein (National Secretary, Democratic Party). Carlo Calenda (Action) will not be present, who also yesterday criticized the Forum’s organization for the invitation extended to Roberto Vannacci.
Immediately after, it will be the turn of panels dedicated to the government. The first, titled: “Energy policies, infrastructure and competitiveness,” will feature speeches by the Minister for the Environment Gilberto Pichetto Fratin and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Matteo Salvini. Following that, there will be discussions on “Justice, Public Administration, University and Research,” with interventions by Carlo Nordio (Minister of Justice), Paolo Zangrillo (Minister of Public Administration), and Anna Maria Bernini (Minister of University and Research). Then it will be the turn of “Investing in young generations” with the Minister of Labor Marina Calderone. The grand finale will be “Economy and Finance” with the minister in charge Giancarlo Giorgetti.
