And, nowadays, the number one political enemy is obviously Giorgia Meloni. So, here is the latest grillino paranoia: according to the party led by Giuseppe Conte, the government wants to undermine the independence of the Court of Auditors as well.
“It is August, when Italians’ attention is at its lowest and many are on vacation: the perfect moment for the Meloni government to attack the Court of Auditors again,” preface the grillino group leaders in the Constitutional Affairs Committee of the Chamber, Alfonso Colucci and Valentina d’Orso.

And again: “It seems that before the summer break they want to bring to the Council of Ministers the new implementing rules of the Foti law aimed at undermining the independence of the accounting judiciary. The script is well known: silently passing measures concerning public spending controls,” shout, paranoid, the grillini.
“If those who oversee the use of citizens’ money are weakened, who will really control power? They want to do with the accounting judiciary what they failed to do with the ordinary judiciary, because Italians prevented it with the referendum. Giorgia Meloni must stop while there is still time. If she does not, this time too she will find us on the barricades,” the Five Star members conclude in a threatening tone.
