Here the former guarantor of the Five Stars retraces the themes of the origins: “The questions have remained, the answers have disappeared,” he writes, recalling that “we had tried to give some, distribute income, change the ruling class, involve citizens in decisions and plan the future instead of managing the next election. We called them citizenship income, the two-term limit, returns, direct democracy and ecological transition; proposals that, over time, have become slogans to be pronounced at conferences and forgotten after the buffet.” Hence the final jab: “The Movement had to listen to the citizens and started listening to the polls. It had to take care of the future and ended up taking care of the seats. But the questions that gave rise to it are still all here.” And again: “The Movement was born to address all these questions, then it started taking care of itself. But the questions have not disappeared, they are still outside the palaces and are waiting for someone to try to answer them.”
