The political clash between Sigfrido Ranucci, host of Report, and Brothers of Italy is growing, as the party prepares a complaint hypothesizing possible influence by Lavitola on the halt of wind power in Lazio. Lavitola, as reported by ilGiornale, has come forward as a friend and source of the journalist. Ranucci responds: “No Report investigation has been influenced by Lavitola, the FdI complaint is based on completely wrong assumptions.” Brothers of Italy has reiterated its opposition to the expansion of renewables in Tuscia, a territory that already hosts over half of the photovoltaic plants in Lazio (54.14% of the plants in the province of Viterbo) and should cover much of the regional energy transition. And a few days ago the Council of Ministers blocked a project that planned the installation of 13 turbines 200 meters high between Viterbo, Montefiascone, and Celleno. In this regard, connections emerge between renewables and the investigation into Valter Lavitola (who makes wind power one of his businesses), while Report has repeatedly criticized members of FdI and the Lazio Region. Among them, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, Francesco Lollobrigida, but also the governor of the Lazio Region, Francesco Rocca.
Meanwhile, the case is also shaking Rai. In Viale Mazzini, clarity is demanded on the relationship between the host of Report and Valter Lavitola, the fixer accused of being the sole instigator of the attack suffered by the journalist last October. A link that is now at the center of attention of investigators and the public broadcaster’s leadership: Lavitola, in fact, besides being a source for Ranucci, was defined by the host himself as “a fraternal friend.” Among the episodes under scrutiny is also the stay of Manuele Bonaccorsi, an internal Report correspondent for nine years, at Lavitola’s bed and breakfast.
