A second after the vote in which the center-right gave the first green light to the electoral law in the Chamber, celebrations broke out among the majority deputies, especially among the benches of Brothers of Italy. The chamber was full, as with the decisive votes, the center-right deputies stood up, amid applause and handshakes. The “Stabilcum” was approved with 217 votes in favor and 152 against (2 abstentions): it will now go to the Senate for examination.

Already shortly before the count, the FdI parliamentarians had stood up several times during the speech of the party’s organizational head, Giovanni Donzelli, one of the toughest towards the opposition. In particular, the deputies highlighted with applause and standing ovations the passage about Giorgia Meloni and her militant history, first as a young activist, then minister, and finally at Palazzo Chigi.
“If this law passes – Donzelli said – our wonderful nation cannot afford to be 90 days without a government, we would lose the credibility we built during the Meloni government period, we would be exposed to international speculation, we would have parties in perpetual electoral campaign forced to hand out bribes with various bonuses,” Donzelli attacked addressing the opposition benches. With this law “we will not return to majorities that have stability less than the couples of Temptation Island.”
