The opportunities provided by the 2026 competition are divided into five different specializations. The largest share concerns legal-oriented documentalists, for whom 12 positions are available, followed by 8 documentalists with economic skills. The picture is completed by 6 positions for IT technicians, 2 for building-structural technicians, and as many for plant technicians.

Aspiring parliamentary secretaries must choose only one profile at the time of application. The final rankings will therefore be five, although the regulation allows the possibility of filling any uncovered positions by using suitable candidates from the other lists.

To participate, you must be an Italian citizen, fully enjoy civil and political rights, and be between 18 and under 40 years old at the publication of the call. Physical fitness for the duties is also required. Regarding educational qualifications, at least a three-year degree obtained with a grade not lower than 105/110 is required. The grade limit does not apply, however, to those holding a master’s degree, specialist degree, or the old system degree.

There is also a deadline to mark on the calendar: applications must be submitted exclusively through the Senate portal by 6 p.m. on August 27, 2026. Access will require Spid or electronic identity card, while participation involves a secretarial fee of 30 euros, to be paid through PagoPA.

The path to hiring could start with a preselection, provided the number of applications exceeds 450, that is fifteen times the available positions for each profile. In that case, candidates will have to face 50 multiple-choice questions in 50 minutes on the Constitution and Senate regulations. Each correct answer is worth one point, while errors entail a penalty of 0.30 points and omitted answers 0.20. The result will only be used to access the next phase and will not affect the final ranking.

At that point, two written tests will come into play, differentiated according to the chosen specialization, in which it will be necessary to score at least 49 points out of 70. Those who pass this hurdle will finally have oral interviews and technical tests, with checks also on knowledge of English, IT skills, and practical abilities required by the role.

Particularly interesting is the salary chapter. The initial salary provided is 45,546 euros gross per year, but career progression can significantly increase the amount: by the twelfth year it reaches 73,263 euros, while by the twenty-fourth year it can reach 136,209 euros gross annually. A growth linked to seniority and professional evaluations that makes the competition particularly attractive also from an economic point of view.
