It’s all from Luigi Zanda, former treasurer of the Democratic Party who, speaking with Il Foglio, questioned the future of the broad field, arguing that the center-left leaders have never bothered to address the major issues of these times: “A clear mistake, irreparable in a few months.” Then the thorny issue of leadership: “Primaries are real elections, to be held with real rules. The next legislature will be very tough, but I have the impression that Schlein and Conte have not understood that what is at stake is not just the ousting of Meloni but the governance of Italy.”
“I am a member of the Democratic Party, I will vote for the center-left and I will encourage others to do so, even if Elly Schlein and Giuseppe Conte struggle to call themselves left-wing, preferring to define themselves as progressives – Zanda continued -. I believe that the secretary of the Democratic Party should always proudly remember that hers is a center-left force; anyone can be progressive. It’s just a way to attract voters.” Schlein and Conte say they are “ready to govern.” But are they really? According to Zanda, “they take too many photos and do too little politics.
