The Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni intervened with a long tweet on X to comment on the video posted by Roberto Vannacci on social media. The leader of Futuro Nazionale used artificial intelligence to portray himself as a general of ancient Rome who, inside the Colosseum, decides on the life and death of some opposition figures, including Elly Schlein, Giuseppe Conte, and Laura Boldrini.
“I read that some opposition figures are asking me to distance myself from a video created with artificial intelligence, circulated by another opposition party, in which I was included without my knowledge – the leader of Fratelli d’Italia stated -. I do so without any hesitation. That video does not belong to my way of being, nor to my way of understanding political debate. I have always thought that politics should be measured by ideas, by consensus and by the vote of citizens, never by intimidation, by hatred or by the violent representation of the adversary. Precisely for this reason, however, I expect the same clarity from those who address this appeal to me today,” Meloni hit hard.

“I expect the same exponents of the left to find the courage to distance themselves when a Democratic Party councilor goes so far as to evoke rifles against political opponents. I expect the same firmness when authoritative institutional representatives of the left, faced with events still under judicial scrutiny, choose to fuel a climate of opposition that ends up delegitimizing the Police Forces and offering a pretext to those who transform squares into places of violence. The condemnation of words of hatred, of every incitement to violence and of every form of political intimidation cannot only be valid when it is useful for the polemic of the moment. It must always be valid. Without exceptions. Without double standards“.
“I have always considered violence, in whatever form it manifests itself, a demonstration of weakness and insecurity. Those who are truly strong do not need to flaunt it. It is a conviction that I will never change. For this reason, I will continue to reject all forms of hatred and violence, to defend civil debate and to respect the work of those who serve the State, even when it means taking on the responsibility of exposing oneself personally. I hope that everyone has the same courage“.
