The suspicion is that Ricci paid the price for criticisms directed at the tournament organization and president Gianni Infantino in recent days. Such a respected media outlet as La Gazzetta dello Sport, for which FIFA president Gianni Infantino willingly wrote an article at the start of this endless World Cup, has now had three accreditations revoked for the final phase for criticizing what didn’t work. Adding to the doubts were some of the latest articles signed by Ricci, dedicated to alleged favoritism towards Argentina, the contested press conferences and other organizational choices by FIFA. However, FIFA did not deem it necessary to offer any clarification.
