The move would certainly steal a percentage – how large remains to be seen – from the 5Stelle electorate disappointed by Conte’s line, which in the polls remains stuck at 11-12%, just over half of Elly Schlein’s PD which also at 20% is not in great shape. The second point of interest is related to the possible symbol with which the Genoese comedian would present himself in the elections: Grillo has gone to court in an attempt to reclaim it, and this would inevitably nibble away more votes from Conte. Conte, who yesterday at the Fatto Quotidiano party – in Marina di Pietrasanta – declared, serenely: «Beppe Grillo will be a guest of Fedez on September 21? Grillo can go wherever he wants, say whatever he wants».

Conte also spoke about Grillo when answering a question about Alessandro Di Battista, just transported to Rome after the serious illness that struck him in Cuba: «If there had not been the “yes” to the Draghi government», this was the question, «would Di Battista still be in the M5S?». Answer: «I can’t make predictions, even backwards in the past but certainly that was a particularly painful moment for the Five Star Movement, I was not yet leader, it was managed directly by Grillo who came to Rome and took the situation in hand and then there was this vote. What struck me was the question. In short, the question was formulated in a very suggestive way and perhaps this is also one of the reasons, since I became leader, why I absolutely demand that the questions submitted to the base be formulated clearly, transparently and not suggestively ».
