The latest scandal is denounced by the regional councilors of Brothers of Italy, Eleonora Pace, Paola Agabiti and Matteo Giambartolomei. “What happened today in the chamber of the legislative assembly of the Umbria Region is an unworthy and serious spectacle. The center-left majority voted against our motion condemning attacks on law enforcement and expressing solidarity with the men and women in uniform. Even more disconcerting is that they did so without even finding the courage to express a single word of motivation in the chamber. A deafening silence that amounts to a clear choice of side,” they state following the vote on the motion they signed and presented by the center-right opposition.

“The act rejected by the center-left – they explain in a note – called for a firm stance against the recent and execrable attacks against the police in Bologna, the assaults on the construction sites in Val di Susa and, last but not least, the serious hate poster posted in Perugia right in front of the police headquarters, bearing subversive slogans such as ‘Prisons and police must be abolished!'”. Result? Once again the left looks the other way.

And again: “Those who remain silent and avoid condemning violence and attacks on the State become moral accomplices of that climate of hatred. For Brothers of Italy – they conclude – there are no gray areas: standing with the men and women in uniform means standing on the side of legality and democracy. The Umbria left has lost another opportunity to demonstrate institutional maturity, preferring ideology over respect for the work of law enforcement.”
