Later, Lenti moved on to the political “lesson” and, of course, to criticism of the government: “Giorgia took two hits, not only from the city with the boos, but also from the speeches of Ferrarese and Mehrez Boussayene who presented the Games as a moment of cooperation, solidarity, tolerance, meeting between peoples and peace. All concepts, ideals and principles that clash with the policies of the Meloni government, which conceives the Mediterranean above all as a security space: blocking departures, outsourcing borders, strengthening surveillance, increasing repatriations and, now, chasing Vannacci who talks about ‘remigration’.”
The councilor then wondered if it was appropriate to protest Meloni during the games ceremony. And he even answered himself: “Absolutely yes. She received the same treatment as Trump at the World Cup, another sporting competition, broadcast worldwide, among which many of those who are now scandalized also shared it. Sport is born to unite, not to divide. And all those who instead of building bridges raise walls, can very well stay at home.”
