“Happy Ferragosto to everyone from the port of Bari, where on Friday, September 4th, the national event of Fratelli d’Italia will take place, with Giorgia Meloni’s speech scheduled around 7 PM,” said the FdI group leader at Montecitorio, showing behind him the very place of the appointment. September 4th, in fact, is the day when the government led by Meloni will reach an important milestone. “The government of Giorgia Meloni, the first government voted by Italians after years and years of palace games, since those on the left always went to government, will reach a historic milestone, becoming the longest-lasting government in the history of the Republic,” explained Bignami. He then added: “Consider that before the Meloni government there were, if I recall correctly, 67 governments in 76 years.”
Finally, addressing the opposition: “I know, I know, the fact that Giorgia Meloni leads the most stable government in the history of the Republic is not good news for Schlein, Conte, Bonelli, Fratoianni, Boldrini and various leftists. But to them I say: don’t be bitter, because on that day we will celebrate another important date, in which you will be the protagonists: that of the longest opposition in the history of the Republic.” And again: “I don’t know about you, but when the left is in opposition, for me it’s always a wonderful thing to celebrate.”
