According to the owner’s reconstruction, supported by images from the surveillance system, the customer wandered among the shelves pretending to look at the goods, took the product, and headed towards the exit without going through the checkout. The owner says she asked several times if the product had been paid for, without receiving – according to her – a convincing answer. From there the decision to check the camera recordings and, subsequently, to publish the video on social media, accompanying it with an outburst that in a few hours sparked an online debate where, as it is right to remember, it is not appropriate to make summary judgments. Any investigations will clarify what really happened and whether there was a simple misunderstanding or something else. However, the media effect of the story remains.
