“My resignation – Conte explains in the letter – is appropriate considering that, in the session of the same Commission convened on August 4, 2026, at 9:30 am, the undersigned will be heard in a hearing as Prime Minister at the time of the events under investigation.” And finally: “In order to avoid any possible situation of incompatibility, I therefore consider it necessary to resign from the position.”
