Lega, the new Pontida manifesto: the detail that explains many things | Libero Quotidiano.it

The latest newsletter from Matteo Salvini reserved a small surprise for the recipients: the preview of the poster for the Pontida 2026 rally, which will be held on Sunday, September 20. No photos, but the drawing of the “sacred meadow” of Pontida and in the foreground a boy and a girl who, backpack on their shoulders, point towards the stage from where the federal secretaries have always spoken. The poster is a clear reference to the past of the Carroccio. What brought it back to mind were precisely the two stylized young people. The same ones that appeared on the posters of the first Padania festival, convened by Umberto Bossi in Venice from September 12 to 14, 1997, a year after the human chain on the Po that united a people from Monviso to Venice, with the ampoule and the declaration of independence of Padania, read by the founder on the stage set up in Riva degli Schiavoni. A ritual, that of the Venetian meeting (Pontida at that time was anticipated between May and July), which went on for several years, marking the entire secessionist epic of the Carroccio. A tribute all the more deserved, because this will be the first Pontida since Umberto left us (he passed away last March 19). And one of the most powerful images of his funeral was precisely the passage of the coffin in front of the big meadow of the small municipality of Bergamo, from which Bossi for years launched attacks at opponents, announced battles, and pumped up militants and simple sympathizers.

Bossi, Giancarlo Pagliarini: “Umberto racist? Nonsense that makes me furious”

THE “MYSTERY” THAT DOESN’T EXIST
The most attentive did not miss another small but significant detail. On the poster there is a stylized logo of Alberto da Giussano with the word “Lega”, but Salvini’s name is not there. No mystery, no backstage, since, precisely, that poster was released – and previously approved – by the federal secretary himself and it could not be otherwise. Lega sources point out that this particular logo, without reference to the Captain, has been in use on social communication since last November. Another note – ours this time – is that not even on the historical posters we mentioned did Bossi’s name appear, which was however present on the symbols to be presented at elections.

Bossi, the revelation of Francesco Speroni: “I tell you how Umberto invented celodurism”

Francesco Speroni, born 1946, senator, MEP and minister for Reforms. Always alongside Umberto Bossi….

If we want to push the political analysis on the absence of the name a little further, we could then bring up the appeal that Matteo Salvini made to the Federal Council about a month ago, when faced with the stomach aches coming especially from the North, the secretary had called for a more collective management of the party (which then culminated in the birth of the Table of Territories). On that occasion Salvini clearly said that it was not possible to think of relaunching the Lega by putting everything on his shoulders, but that to achieve a good result everyone would have to do their part. From here one could hypothesize that the idea of removing the name (which should not reappear even in the final version, the one that will also report the official slogan of Pontida 2026) is precisely to recall a greater internal collegiality within the Lega, capable of bringing everyone together. Also because from that meadow, next September 20, the race will start for one of the historically most important electoral campaigns for the fate of the Lega. And of Salvini.
