The executive led by Giorgia Meloni has finally abolished the car tax. Or, as the Prime Minister herself defined it, one of the “most hated taxes by Italians.” And to think that just a short time ago Giuseppe Conte accused the government of inaction. “Is there anyone? Is there a government?” said the leader of the Five Star Movement. “Yes, Conte, Giorgia Meloni is in government and it shows: she protects Italians – the reply from Brothers of Italy -. You, instead, think about the state coffers brought to their knees by the Superbonus and the damage you left when you were in government.”

“Today in the Council of Ministers we approved the abolition of the tax for small and medium power cars, up to 80 kW, and for motorcycles, with an exemption for one vehicle per citizen – Giorgia Meloni’s comment on X -. We chose to transform part of the resources used so far against high fuel prices into a simple and structural measure, designed especially for those who use cars and motorcycles every day to work, accompany their children, get around. A concrete choice: we cancel one of the most hated taxes by Italians and continue on the path of reducing the tax burden. While others talk about wealth taxes, we remove a property tax.”
