When asked about the leader of Italia Viva, Conte does not beat around the bush: “For me, Renzi makes us lose votes, taking him into the coalition is a mistake.” No personal veto, he clarifies, but a problem of “reliability of allies and coherence on the program”.

On the contrary, he looks with interest at Alessandro Onorato, whose movement of administrators “can help us recover part of the abstainers.” Then there is Silvia Salis, still undecided according to Conte. And the possible scenario of a four-way challenge between Schlein, Conte, Onorato, and Renzi (or Salis) already promises a lively campaign.
