As the councilor recalls, “the protection of public health and veterinary health is a key competence of the Emilia-Romagna Region, which must oversee the strict application of hygienic-sanitary protocols and respect for animal welfare,” FdI therefore asks the council whether the Health Policies department is aware of the content of the new regulation of the Municipality of Valsamoggia and whether it considers the provisions fully compatible and consistent with the guidelines of regional and European veterinary health.”

Evangelisti also asks “what extraordinary control protections and plans the Bologna AUSL intends to activate to verify that authorized home slaughtering for self-consumption takes place in strict compliance with the obligation to stun the animal and whether it does not consider it necessary to issue a clarifying regional directive to prevent the proliferation of livestock farms in urban centers and ensure that private slaughtering remains a strictly delimited and monitored activity.”
