“I was informed that a fake video is circulating in which I am seen amusedly chatting with Roberto Vannacci at a dinner. It never happened. We have never even met. And that dinner never existed. Now, I am not so much interested in denying a fact that is already hardly believable: I want to reflect together on where this kind of abuse of artificial intelligence is leading democracies. On what it can do to the rights of all citizens. And I want to renew the appeal I made to all political forces, already taken up by President Meloni, for a responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence.”
Schlein then invited all political forces not to use AI to attribute to opponents facts or statements that never happened, emphasizing the danger of increasing pollution of the election campaign through increasingly realistic false content.

The PD leader also asked social platforms to act quickly against manipulated content: “Moreover, social platforms must take responsibility and promptly remove deepfakes like the one inventing the false conversation between me and Vannacci.”
