Now that the investigation by the Rome prosecutor’s office has revealed the origin of that “demonstrative” bomb, the shady ties between Ranucci and Valter Lavitola, and the survey commissioned by the fixer, the Meloni deputy does not rule out that “that was the first political demonstration” preparatory to a future run by Sigfrido against Giorgia Meloni. Donzelli, you have counted as many as 70 episodes of Report on Giorgia Meloni and her family, a true obsession of the Rai3 host against the prime minister.
Was Ranucci already in an election campaign?
“Here there is not only the issue of the public television channel for a private interest, and there is not only the issue of the double standard: conspiratorial and censorious on far-fetched hypotheses against Meloni and the center-right while he saw Lavitola every day who was already a known criminal; but there is also the matter of all the various commentators, left-wing journalists who have always blamed us and who should now apologize. As Elly Schlein should apologize who went to the European Socialists congress to say that ‘democracy in Italy is in danger because the right is in government.’ But I also add, with all due respect, that perhaps a word of apology should also be said by the ANM that stood up in a standing ovation for Ranucci. They should at least apologize to all those magistrates who fight crime every day.”
Do you also, like the leader of the League Matteo Salvini, think that Report should take a break?
“I do not deal with Rai schedules, fortunately there are those who do. I believe that Report has an important history as an investigative program since the time of Milena Gabanelli and I believe that the credibility of the program must be preserved above all. As an Italian citizen, before being a parliamentarian, I care about the credibility of public service.”
Do you know that in the order against Lavitola there is a passage where it seems to talk about you, mentioning a certain “Donz”?
“I read that in the documents someone said that a journalist at my urging would have taken Ranucci’s place, but fortunately for me, and for my neighbors, I have no mutual friends with the Report host, given how friends behave with him.”
The Five Star Movement continues to defend the deputy director of Rai3, talking about TeleMeloni, and in the Chamber they attacked you over the Delmastro chat issue. Is there also a double standard here?
“Yes. We are still waiting for Conte to tell the truth about Covid and for Scarpinato to take responsibility for trying to influence a witness of the Anti-Mafia commission on the cover-up for the Borsellino massacre. On fundamental issues for Italian history, M5S is not transparent and preaches morality in Parliament. It is evident that they share the double standard of the Report system. And then let me say.”

The international situation is increasingly delicate and worrying, particularly the terrorism risks from migrants in Ceuta, but also the phenomena of anti-Semitism in Italy. Can it be said, however, that the European approach is more favorable towards Rome?
“Yes. Before in Italy it was said that we had to welcome everyone because Europe asked us to. Today in Europe it is said ‘we must defend the borders and stop illegal immigration as Italy asks’ and this is thanks to the stability of our government. As for anti-Semitism, it is largely fueled by these first and second generations of Islamic immigrants who hate Israel. Then unfortunately there is an underestimation by the left: to gather votes they ended up embracing pro-Pal extremism.”
On September 4 you will celebrate in Bari the longest-lasting government. Right to celebrate, but the justice reform did not pass and the program is not finished…
“It will be a sober celebration to which everyone is invited. Regarding reforms, I want to recall the labor reform: we removed the citizenship income and now employment is at its highest, we thought about reducing labor costs and helping the weaker groups. We did federalism, we will work on the premiership and continue to have an ever stronger democracy for the good of Italians.”
