The provocations and attacks launched by Beppe Grillo in recent days have inevitably stirred something. Many of Grillo’s loyalists, after the statements of the former founder, suddenly reappeared, returning to speak after years of silence. A return of Grillo, however, seems rather unlikely. At the moment, the most concrete hypothesis is the creation of a new party – led, for example, by Alessandro Di Battista. But who would enter this sort of Five Star Movement 2.0? The Corriere della Sera talks about the “hardcore movement members.” In short, those from the early days. Among them, the most active would be Angelo Tofalo – former undersecretary of Defense, who reposted Grillo’s intervention -, Marco Bella and Elio Lannutti – who defended the founder online. The Corsera then names former deputy Carla Ruocco and former senator Nicola Morra, who in recent years has always tried to run with alternative lists to bipartisanship.

There is also talk of Schierarsi, Di Battista’s association that could play a fundamental role in the creation of a new party. Besides Dibba, the group includes former minister Barbara Lezzi and former group leader Alessio Villarosa. Among them, at the moment, no one speaks, but reflections are underway. “It will take some time to resolve any reservations for a candidacy, at least a couple of months,” reads the Milanese newspaper.
Among the former grillini, however, there are also those who call for calm. “You can also lend a hand by staying outside the institutions,” says former Transport Minister Danilo Toninelli. “On the contrary,” he continues, “for those like us who have already served their terms, I believe the time has come to pass the baton.” But then he adds: “We remain available, to offer the experience of those who have remained faithful to the values of the two-term limit of direct democracy, but without seeking a return.”
