Not a day goes by without the left wagging its finger to warn that the electoral promises of the right regarding security, “after four years of the Meloni government, have miserably failed.” And not a day goes by that the right suffers, giving the impression that it lacks arguments to refute. I therefore ask for your help: am I wrong to think that after about sixty years of the left’s preaching to delegitimize every principle of authority – that of the father, the teacher, and obviously the police forces – and at the same time exalt every form of rebellion, it was inevitable to arrive at children who mock their parents, youngsters who belt teachers and hammer policemen? Let’s not confuse the issues. The demolition of the principle of authority is real and has been systematically pursued by the left, but it only minimally explains the crimes we are talking about. The causes are others, and at the top of the list are decades of uncontrolled and unselected immigration. The protagonists of most of the news stories are immigrants and young people raised in abandoned suburbs, second-generation children of that uncontrolled “welcome” that the left wanted, defended, and imposed as a moral obligation – while living far from the consequences. Foreigners, who make up 9% of the population, are responsible for 44% of sexual violence, 52% of robberies, 24% of intentional homicides, and 64% of prostitution exploitation crimes (I could go on). This is why that raised finger pointing to “the failures of the right” is ridiculous. The right question is not “why isn’t everything resolved after four years?”. The questions are: whose responsibility is this situation? What would the left do if it were in government? Would things get better or worse? The answer is in their statements: reopened corridors, indiscriminate welcome, criminalization of the Police. No step forward, but a race backward. The rest is electoral begging.
